Principal's Message from October 1, 2023

Your child will receive a form this week to return if you are interested in receiving a food bag each Friday.  Students that are in need and return the form will be able to pick up a bear bag of non perishable food items each Friday afternoon.
On October the 5th (Thursday), we will hold our fourth Bike To School Event. Bikes are provided, pick up and return a permission slip to the MAMS front office ASAP, if you would like to participate.
We still have COVID test kits available for free to any parent requesting one for their child.  Reach out to our nurses office to request a kit.

The 2023-2024 Holiday Art Contest begins Monday, October 2, 2023 and ends Friday, October 20, 2023. This contest is for all students (PreK-12) in the Mount Airy City Schools system.  Each school will select one drawing as a winner for their school. The winning design will be used to represent their school, as well as the district on holiday cards. Each winner will receive a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, 25-holiday cards for their use, and be recognized at a school board meeting in November.
Our chocolate fundraiser is coming to an end.  Please return all money for the fundraiser to the school tomorrow.  Thank you for your participation and support!
If you haven’t already, support our Mount Airy City Schools athletes by participating in our 50/50 raffle.  See any MAMS athlete to purchase tickets.  Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20.  If your child is selling raffle tickets, make sure they are collecting money and turning it into Mr. Cawley or Mr. Gallimore as soon as each book is sold.  Thank you for helping out our sports programs.
Yearbooks and 8th grade recognition ads are available for purchase. Go to www.yearbookforever.com for more information.
We will have our first PBIS field trip for students this Thursday.  Students that have had exemplary behavior, not failing more than one class, and have had no more than 3 unexcused absences qualify for the trip to Riverside Park for games, bike riding, and ice cream.  Return your permission slip asap and bring $3 on Thursday if you are interested in purchasing ice cream.
