Schedule Adjustment

Since the first day of school, exploratory teachers have been co-teaching with core teachers to lower the number of students in a room. One class of students has been divided between two rooms to meet social distancing requirements. This has called for the use of all educators and a variety of rooms in MAMS to keep students confined with their grade level of peers. Thanks to innovative scheduling, the school has developed a plan to bring exploratory classes together on a rotational basis with the goal of fully providing exploratory classes in the second semester.

The logistics needed to bring students back five days a week for a middle school setting have been intricate, which requires an even more detailed approach to the use of exploratory spaces.

To begin this process, MAMS students will now have their NC Check-ins the week of October 12th. Beginning on Monday, October 19th the start time for MAMS will be 9:00 am. Dismissal time and procedures will not change. Health and wellness measures will not lessen as this new start time begins, but a new schedule will occur for students and staff within the building. Students will be able to participate in various exploratory classes over the course of the semester.

Due to the changes mentioned above, we will need to adjust the arrival time for car riders.  Students can arrive at the school between 8:30 and 9:00 AM.  All students will continue to pick up breakfast and travel to their homeroom.
