What is your educational background? For my K-12 education, I attended Benson Elementary, Jones Elementary, Mount Airy Junior High, and Mount Airy High School. After graduating high school, I attended Appalachian State University where I earned degrees in Food Systems Management and Family and Consumer Science Education.

Where do you teach? What grade level(s) and subject area(s)? I work at Mount Airy Middle School and teach 6th-8th grades. I teach Family and Consumer Science (6th Grade- Interior and Apparel Design, 7th Grade- Foods and Nutrition) and Personal Finance (8th Grade- Hospitality and Culinary Careers).

How many years have you been in education? This is my 22nd year in education.

How many years have you worked in another career? For 10 years, I worked at a family restaurant, Derby Restaurant and Cafeteria.

Tells us about your family. I have been married to Randy Beasley for 29 years. He works at Pike Electric. We have a 26 year old son, Josh, who works for Duke Energy. We have a 23 year old daughter, Christy Snow, who teaches 6th grade ELA at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. She is married to Shawn who works at Frank L. Blum Construction. We also have a golden retriever, Lucy, and basset hound, Bonnie; both are 14 years old.

What is your favorite part of the year and why? Summer is my favorite season and camping at Lake Norman is my favorite part of the year because there are no worries or stress and I am with my family.

Finish this statement: I teach because I absolutely love to see a child find their passion.  I love to see them discover that they are good at something.  I love to see them change from an apprehensive child to a confident young teenager.  I love to see former students tell me they never forgot the skills they learned in my class, so many years ago. I love teaching what I teach and the age I teach.

Ask your class or group of students to describe you using 3 adjectives. Organized, Energetic, Caring
